WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN SUPPLEMENT PROGRAM (WIC)
... is a health and nutrition program for Women, Infants and children, aimed at preventing problems in growth and development. Nutritious food supplements are provided to the following individuals who are found to have special nutritional needs:
  • Pregnant women
  • Nursing mothers
  • Women with babies under 6 months of age
  • Infants
  • Children up to age 5
Nutrition education is also provided to the adult participatns. SERVES JEFFERSON COUNTY MISSOURI ONLY.

The WIC Program also administers a Peer Counseling Grant. The purpose of this grant is to encourage mothers to breastfeed their baby. We have a nurse and peer Counselors (other mothers who are breastfeeding or have breastfed their babies). They help mothers and mothers-to-be understand the benefits of breastfeeding and how to solve problems that may occur during breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding Class/Mom's Club
For all prenatal or breastfeeding moms with their family members or support person
There will be a 30 minute structured class followed by "mom to mom" time. Come and learn and share!

  • What is W.I.C.?
    • W.I.C. is a supplemental food and nutrition education program for Pregnant, Breastfeeding, Postpartum women, Infants, and Children up to the age of 5.
  • Do you have to have an appointment to get on the program?
    • Yes, you have to call (636)789-2686 or (636)797-2688 ext. 108.
  • How do you qualify for the program?
    • You have to qualify by your income first and then have either a medical or nutritional risk that will be determined by one of our health professionals. If you are on Medicaid, TANF, or food stamps you automatically qualify by your income.
  • Where is W.I.C. located?
    • We have two locations: In Hillsboro -at the Jefferson Franklin Community Action Building at #2 Merchant Drive (Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays) and in Arnold at the Arnold Community Building, 2900 Tenbrook Dr. (Tuesday and Wednesdays). You must call (636)789-2686 or (636)797-2688 ext. 108 to make an appointment at the closest location to your home.
